Why Coatings Contractors Choose CCA.
Large-scale industrial coatings work requires specific insurance — pollution liability, professional liability for long-service-life specifications, and high umbrella limits for major project owners.
Coatings Program Specialists
We understand the specific exposures of industrial coatings contractors — bridge painting specification requirements, petrochemical facility liability, DOT additional insured language, and the professional liability risk of long-term anti-corrosion specifications.
Major Project Insurance Expertise
We understand DOT contract requirements, facility owner AI language, and the specific coverage structures that major industrial coatings projects demand. Your program is built to pass project insurance reviews.
CPL Built for Large-Scale Coatings
CPL for large-scale bridge and facility coatings is different from standard coating contractor CPL. Blast media, lead paint disturbance, containment failures, and large-volume chemical releases require higher limits and broader coverage.
Infrastructure Coatings WC Specialists
Bridge painting and major facility coatings have specific workers compensation exposure — falls from scaffolding and swing stages, lead exposure, confined space entry. We place your WC with carriers who understand these risks.
High-Limit Umbrella Capacity
We access umbrella capacity up to $10M and above for established industrial coatings contractors — meeting the high limit requirements of state DOTs, petrochemical operators, and major facility owners.
From quote request to bound policy in about a day.
Getting industrial coatings contractor insurance built for major project work shouldn't take weeks. Our process moves fast.

“We do bridge painting for state DOTs across three states. The additional insured requirements, high liability limits, and environmental regulations vary by project. Industrial Coatings Insurance put us with a carrier who understands infrastructure coatings work — we get the certificates we need and the program is built for our scale.”

“Petrochemical facility coatings work requires CPL, specific additional insured forms, and high umbrella limits. Generic contractors insurance either won't write it or prices it wrong. CCA understands our work and wrote a program that actually fits — GL, CPL, professional liability, and $10M umbrella, all coordinated.”

“We had a professional liability claim on a bridge anti-corrosion coating project — coating failure three years in on a 20-year specification. Our E&O carrier defended us and resolved the claim for substantially less than we expected. That's why professional liability isn't optional for infrastructure coatings contractors.”

Industrial Coatings Insurance Questions Answered.
Large-scale industrial coatings programs typically include: GL with completed operations and appropriate AI endorsements; CPL for pollution conditions from coating and blasting operations; professional liability for specification failure claims; workers comp covering fall, lead, and chemical exposure risks; commercial auto for your equipment fleet; umbrella to meet project owner limit requirements; and an installation floater for staged materials.
Bridge coating work involves blasting off lead-containing paint, releasing blast media and paint chip debris, applying chemical coating systems near waterways, and working in or over sensitive environments. GL's pollution exclusion denies coverage for these events. CPL covers them.
The appropriate limit depends on project scale and warranty or service life obligations. A 20-year anti-corrosion specification on a major bridge span creates long-duration exposure. Limits from $1M to $5M per claim are common for infrastructure coatings contractors. Some DOT or facility owner contracts specify minimum E&O limits.
State DOT requirements vary, but $5M to $10M in total liability capacity is common on major bridge contracts. Some large span projects require $15M or more. Umbrella coverage provides these limits above your primary GL at a fraction of the cost of high primary limits.
Yes in most cases. Abrasive blasting operations that disturb lead-based paint on bridges and older structures create lead exposure claims that fall within GL's pollution exclusion. CPL is designed to cover these disturbance activities. Coverage terms vary by carrier and project type.
State DOTs require specific AI endorsement forms, often ISO CG 2010 (ongoing operations) and CG 2037 (completed operations) with primary/non-contributory language and waiver of subrogation. Your carrier must issue these endorsements. We ensure your policy is set up to satisfy DOT requirements before you bid.
Yes. We write industrial coatings contractor programs in all 50 states. GL typically covers you wherever you work. Workers comp requires state-specific policies for each state where you employ workers. CPL and professional liability generally follow your operations.
Bridge painting creates specific WC risk: falls from swing stages, scaffolding, and elevated work platforms at height; lead exposure from blasting; physical demands of abrasive blasting operations; noise-induced hearing loss from blast equipment; and respiratory exposure from coating vapors on enclosed structures.
Yes, if you stage significant material inventory — drums of epoxy, zinc-rich primer, abrasive media — at project sites before application. GL does not cover your own property. An installation floater covers staged materials against theft, vandalism, and physical damage until application and project acceptance.
Professional liability is almost always claims-made — the policy in effect when the claim is filed responds, not the policy in effect when the work was done. For infrastructure coatings contractors with long service life warranties, you need continuous coverage through the life of your warranty obligations. We explain this clearly when structuring your program.
Solvent-based systems, zinc-rich primers, coal tar epoxy, polyurethane systems with isocyanate hardeners, and any coating applied in or near water or sensitive ecological areas create the highest CPL exposure. Two-part systems with chemical hardeners also create significant chemical exposure risk for workers and bystanders.
Industrial coatings work may fall under painting contractor codes (class 5474), specialized bridge painting codes, or other classification codes depending on your state and work type. Incorrect classification creates audit exposure and premium inaccuracies. We verify classification before binding.
Yes, in most cases. Prior claims require transparency about circumstances and safety program improvements. We work with multiple carriers who understand coatings contractor risk and write accounts with claims history. Clean safety programs improve your position with underwriters.
We target 15-minute turnaround for standard industrial coatings programs. Complex multi-state operations, DOT programs with specific contract requirements, or programs involving lead abatement work may take additional time to properly market. Call 844-967-5247 or submit online.
GL covers third-party property damage during your surface prep operations — blast media or debris damage to adjacent property, equipment, or vehicles. GL does not cover your own equipment, and pollution exclusions may apply to blast media contamination. CPL covers the pollution-condition aspects of surface prep.
Completed operations coverage in your GL responds to claims that arise after you finish a project — a coating failure, property damage discovered later, or a structural issue allegedly caused by your surface preparation. For coatings contractors, completed operations is essential because coating failures often manifest months or years after application.
Yes. Your blast rigs, spray equipment, scaffolding components, and application equipment are not covered by GL. An inland marine or tools and equipment floater covers this equipment at job sites, in transit, and at your yard. For a major coatings contractor, the replacement cost of a full set of equipment is significant.
Bridge painting and structure coating near waterways creates pollution liability risk from containment failures, wash water, and blast media. CPL covers these events — third-party bodily injury, property damage, and cleanup costs from coating-related pollution conditions near water.
Most coatings contractors carry $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate at minimum. Project owners and DOTs may require $2M to $5M per occurrence — umbrella coverage is the most cost-effective way to meet these requirements.
